V&A Museum
Rethinking digital for the world’s leading museum of art and design
Rethinking digital for the world’s leading museum of art and design
The V&A had 4.5 million objects spanning 5,000 years of human creativity and a digital presence that didn’t reflect any of it. The challenge was a full design-led digital transformation: a new platform, a new digital strategy and a new way of working, all while enabling the museum’s own team to eventually own and build on what we created.
As Design Lead at Made by Many I worked across research and strategy, platform design and the design system underpinning it all. Interviews with 24 stakeholders helped us revamp the CMS to enable faster publishing with more creative control. User testing with past and potential visitors allowed us to identify major pain points around brand awareness, ticket purchases and collection discovery that we could fix immediately on the existing website, while simultaneously revamping the entire user experience as part of our vision for the new V&A online.
“Owen is one of those few designers who has the ability to absorb multiple roles. For me what I valued most was his collaboration with the strategy team, where he was able to help direct the product design in tandem with the strategic development in a highly collaborative, fluid fashion — which he makes seem effortless.”
